Zoning and Settles Point Rd. Issues Update

Earlier this week the SBHA Board of Directors & consulting guests met to discuss the proposed R-100 zoning and Settles Point Rd. extension issues. At this meeting written concerns of residents were reviewed, views and suggestions of those in attendance were discussed, and a focused list of contentions on each issue was created as a strategy guideline to prepare statements for the Planning and Zoning Board meeting this Tuesday (Nov. 3rd). This case is listed as RZ-98-023 in the City of Suwanee records.

Important results from the SBHA Board meeting include:

  1. Everyone agreed that the Settles Point Rd. extension into the new subdivision would result in a number of concerns to Settles Bridge subdivision. It was agreed that this is the major Settles Bridge issue in regard to potential action of the Planning and Zoning Board.
  2. The differences of zoning districts (types) were reviewed and a copy of this information is attached to this flyer.
  3. Maps of the proposed subdivision were reviewed and a list of questions to the developer was created.
  4. Roger Kennedy will contact the developer to arrange a meeting this week with SBHA officers to investigate the developer’s intentions with the property and the Settles Point Rd. extension.
  5. Everyone agreed that the 2 petitions being signed by neighborhood residents are critical in our approach to the Planning & Zoning meeting, especially in regard to blocking the Settles Point extension. All residents need to have their signatures on both petitions by this Sunday evening !!
  6. Certain designated individuals representing SBHA, Inc. and the subdivision will present the petitions and structured comments to the Planning and Zoning board at the Nov 3rd meeting.
  7. Another officers meeting is planned for this Sunday to discuss the outcome of the meeting with the developer and to finalize strategy for Tuesday night’s Planning & Zoning meeting.

Again: We need for everyone to sign these 2 petitions before Sunday evening, Nov. 1st. If you have not yet signed these please contact one of the coordinators immediately to make arrangements. If you live from 4695 to 4895 Settles Point Rd. or on Surveyor’s Point Rd. contact Kathie Curtin at 770-945-5004.

Also: We need for as many residents as possible from our subdivision to attend the Planning and Zoning Board meeting this Tuesday evening at City Hall !!

Election Day & Amendment #1

This Tuesday is also election day. SBHA, Inc has received a letter from the Georgia Association of Realtors informing us of Amendment #1 to be on the ballot. Your board feels it is important that as homeowners, you know about this and a copy of the received letter is attached. Please Note: The SBHA Board does not take a position one way or the other on this amendment. We simply wanted to inform you that it would be on the ballot to give you time to be an informed voter.
