Another yard sale in the Fall?

Annual Garage Sale--Another One in the Fall?

The Settles Bridge subdivision had its annual Memorial Day Yard Sale this year on May 26.  We had good participation throughout the neighborhood, with almost 10% of the homes joining in to sell items they could stand to part with.

The key to any successful yard sale is advertisement (we ran ads in the local papers) and getting an early start.  One family that we interviewed only started getting their items ready at about 7:30 (the sale was scheduled to start at 8:00 a.m.) and didn't even get their items out for sale until around 8:15 - and they still made $165!  Not bad for a few hours work.  And, of course, they now have a little more room in the house.

Driving around Gwinnett County later in the day it was obvious that our subdivision was not the only one to pick Memorial Day weekend to hold a community yard sale.  This is bad and good--we are competing for traffic, but people are also out looking for yard sales.

We had a few residents suggest another sale in the Fall.  What do you think?  If you might be willing to participate, just send a quick e-mail to:
