Easter Egg Hunt / SBHA Meeting

On the Saturday before Easter (April 14th) the Settles Bridge Homeowners Association is sponsoring an Easter Egg Hunt! The event will take place at the home of Mark and Rita Joshi, 400 Surveyor's Point (right at the end of the street). The hunt is for children 12 and under, and will start at 2:00, weather permitting. Children who want to participate should bring their own basket, and adults who want to sit should bring their own chairs (or picnic blankets). We will be dividing the children up into different age categories so it will be fair to all. Please RSVP to Rita (770-271-2959) with number of children and ages. Bring snacks or finger-food to share. We will provide soda, juice packs and bottled water.

Immediately after the egg hunt, we will have a very important Homeowners Association meeting. The meeting should start around 3:00, and it will take place rain or shine. At this meeting we will elect officers to serve for the rest of 2001 and into 2002. Please call or write to make officer nominations for this election! These nominations are due by April 8th. You can submit nominations to David Hancock or to Bill Williams.

SBHA Directory Updates

On the back of this newsletter you will once again find an update form for our neighborhood telephone directory and for emergency contacts within the subdivision. If you didn't fill it in and return it last month, please do so this month. Even if nothing has changed since the directory last went out, we still need the forms for our records. If you don't want to mail it, feel free to bring it with you to the April Homeowner's Meeting. We will be updating the online and print versions of the directory and want to make sure that it is as accurate as possible. To get changes into the directory for the next year we must receive your completed forms by the April 14th meeting!

SBHA Congratulations

Congratulations go to parents of a new baby girl! At 8:21am on February 23, Bob and Candy Connor of 485 Surveyor's Point gave birth to their 6 lbs.- 12 oz new daughter, Samantha Rose.

February 20 City Council Meeting

The most interesting things that happened were outside of the usual City Council business. There is a time during every City Council meeting when anyone can come forward and talk about anything. During the public comment period on this particular Tuesday, Suwanee Residents expressed concern about the following items:

First, a resident complained about Home Based Businesses (HBB) creating extra traffic. Most places (including Gwinnett county) have regulations that HBBs can't increase traffic, but Suwanee does not. In addition to the increased traffic, he can no longer identify suspicious cars, and there are visiting children playing in the street.

The second speaker has a problem with garbage pickup, but not in the usual way. He is frequently upset in the middle of the night by very noisy garbage trucks as they service businesses around his home. He even asked the trash company if they could pickup all on one night instead of three like they are doing now, but they refused. The complainant pointed out that this problem will only get worse when Suwanee starts to implement their Planned Mixed Use Development (PMUD) communities.

Dues Due!

It is that time of the year again, and we are preparing the 2001 mailing. It will have details of the 2001 early-bird dues contest - we did this last year and had great success. All entries returned by the date specified in the mailing are entered into a drawing for a prize. The drawing will be done (and the winner announced) at the annual SBHA Summer Picnic.
